Description

A series of Pandoran creatures designed for an enviroment like the redwood forests on the N.American west coast, with a little oceanside cliffs and swamps thrown in.
As shown, from top to bottom (with English names, I'm not that good)
-edit- Now with color!

:bulletred: Lesser Leonopteryx:
A much smaller, less agressive subspecies of Leonopteryx. They are a little larger than a Mountqain Banshee. They live in colonies of roughly 20-50 individuals, spread thinly through a large clan territory consisting of forest and cliffs. Mated pairs claim a roost tree, and build a large nest in the branches. They are even-tempered enough to be ridden like the Mountain Banshee, mated Leonopteryx pairs are always bonded with Na'vi pairs, as bonding to a Leonopteryx is not a right of passage like within the forest clans.

:bulletorange: Quilldeer:
The quilldeer is much smaller than the forest Direhorse, and is commonly used as a pack animal and a mount for children. They live in herds of 15-30 around the edges of swamps. The eight featherlike display quills are brightly colored, and are used in mating and threat displays. They are generaly skittish, but have an even temper.

:bulletyellow: Coastal Banshee:
Much smaller than its forest and mountain cousins, this Banshee is too small to be used as a mount. The live in large colonies, living on the cliffs and the floating rocks surrounding them. They are not as flamboyantly colored and have almost no dark markings.

:bulletgreen: Thanawolf:
A rather unoriginal name for this decendant of both the Thanator and the Viperwolf. They are about twice the size of the forest viperwolves, and hunt in packs of mated pairs and young offspring. They show considerably more intelligence than their forest cousins, and a few have been tamed within the Na'vi clans.

:bulletblue: Duck-billed Cerathere:
Also just referred to as "ducks", because of their flat mouths and semi-aquatic nature. They live in small herds within the coastal swamps, feeding on aquaitc plants. The large fan display is primarily for establishing dominance, but is also used fir threat and defensive displays. They are roughly the same size as the forest Hammerhead Titanothere, and so enough intelligence to be used as a mount, although this rarely happens.

:bulletpurple: Greater Hexepede:
They are not truely related to the forest Hexepede, but they are similar in appearence, and have the same fan-like head display. They are the same size as the forest Direhorse, and are used as mounts among the Na'vi tribes.

:star: Forest Lung
Named after the Earth dragon it so greatly resembles, it is the top predator in the ecosystem. They live alone, pairing briefly to mate and then seperating. The hunt primarily from the trees, gliding between branches with the twin row of frills running the length of their body. Their bodies are roughly the same size as a Thanator's, only much longer. The Lung is held in the same reverence as the Great Leonopteryx, and only the biggest and strongest could serve as mounts. They are bonded with about the same frequency as the Leonopteryx because the positioning of their frills inhibits proper riding posture.

If the Jungle Na’vi and the Reef Na’vi look different, then what would the mountain, desert, tundra, plains, and wetlands Na’vi look like?
